Keith Nelder, the owner and long time boat builder, is the author of the initial design of the Bras d’Or 18.

Autumn 2008, HTM Composites Inc has accepted to invest its expertise in the development of a second generation of Bras d’Or 11. This second generation will loose some weight, while maintaining its stiffness, by taking advantage of the infusion process used from now on to produce the hull of the Bras d’Or 11. Adoption of this process will also permit to improve the quality of the interior finish of the hull. This collaboration should, in the future, bring other improvements or new options to the boat and its construction process. An even lighter version could eventually be introduced taking advantage of lighter and very stiff fibres like Kevlar and Carbon.
